The Carrier, Personnel Half-track M3 was an armored vehicle used by the United States, the British Empire and the other Allies during World War II and the Cold War. Nearly 43,000 were produced, and supplied to the U.S. Army and Marines, as well as British Commonwealth and Soviet Red Army forces, serving on all fronts throughout the war.

The M3 was the larger counterpart to the M2 Half Track Car. The M3 had a longer body than the M2 with a single access door in the rear and seating for a 13-man rifle squad. Ten seats were arranged down either side of the vehicle, with three in the cab. Racks under the seats were used for ammunition and rations; additional racks behind the seat backs held the squad's rifles and other stowage. A small rack for mines was added on the outside of the hull just above the tracks. In combat, most units found it necessary to stow additional food, rucksacks and other crew stowage on the outside of the vehicle. Luggage racks were often added in the field, and very late vehicles had rear-mounted racks for this crew stowage

The Kit:

M3 Halftrack is a non-assembled laser cut steel body, with rubber tracks, vacuum formed fenders and resin accessories. We have now added the "bolt set" with this kit, which are glued in the various holes throughout the vehicle. The basic kit does NOT include .50 or .30 cal or mines/bags shown on pictures below.

Sixth Army Group offers a build-up review of the kit (click on link) -This customer shows the option to "weld" the metal parts together, and added a pulpit to make the M3A1. FOA offers a M3A1 conversion kit.

Radio Controlled Upgrades:

FOA is currently working on an RC upgrade for Half-tracks (i.e. Sd.Kfz.251 series as well). Please stay posted

  2. M3 Halftrack Arrived

Had to open the boxes and handle the parts. The Laser Cut steel is really impressive and the bends are laser creased. Very cool technology. The Track treads are much better than imagined and will work fine with the steel p[arts for radio control. Cant wait to get started!
