Product Description

Note to Customer:

DML75051 Sherman M4A3 (75) is expected to be released by Dragon USA at the end of June 2018.

FOA T48 and T51 tracks should be available around this time: the end connectors are now made of die-cast aluminum and the inner skeleton of the pad has stamped steel plates. The e-clips for each track pin is replaced by spring clips (one clip for each end connector)

Products that are NOT in stock but still available for purchase means that FOA can to source the laser-cut parts within 2 weeks of your purchase

This kit is a "Combat RC" tank, using the plastic frame of Dragon 75046 M4A3 Sherman kit, and adding a laser-cut inner metal frame to add structural strength.

Item dimensions:
Weight: 54 kg/120 lbs.
Length: 105 cm/41 in.
Width: 43 cm/17 in.
Height: 45 cm/18 in.

The kit includes the following components: Dragon 75051 plastic kit.

  • TTMS Motorization System, Low Profile, TTMS is a "self-standing frame" which improves the structural strength of the body, and has high torque to turn in grass and rough terrain - Test speeds have shown up to 4.3 mph (6.9 km/hr) on flat surfaces.

  • TTRS turret rotation system with its standard Lazy Susan / ABS rings and high torque motor. The rotation speed is around 12 sec for 360 degrees, or 5 rpm - accurate for the scale tank.

  • Track system is made with "hard rubber" pads with inner metal brackets, and die-cast aluminum end-connectors with steel pins and double-clips - metal in-connectors between pins are cast inside the rubber pad to avoid stretching of the pad (see pictures below). T48 with Chevron is standard.

  • VVSS (Vertical Volute Suspension System) has been extensively reworked with heavy gauge steel. It uses coil springs rather than volute springs, but works the same way. The plastic parts cover the metal inner frames, allowing visual accuracy.

  • All bushings, rails, springs, bolts and steel sleeves associated with the running gears, VVSS suspension, idlers and sprockets

  • Electronic Control System: Speed controllers for the two motors, and the turret rotation. Emergency switch on the back panel. All wiring necessary and fuse box.

This product can be purchased affordably in EIGHT sub-systems:

  1. T48 Chevron or T51 Smooth Tracks
  2. Inner Metal Shell
  3. Boogie System including Idler, and 12 rubber filled Road Wheels
  4. RC Drive Sprocket
  5. TTMS-LP Motorization
  6. TTRS 12" Turret Rotation
  7. Dual Control System (Turret Rotation/Gun Elevation)
  8. ECS Control System (lead batteries - LiPo system available)

The two 12 VDC UB12180 type 18Ah Lead Acid Batteries (or Four 5000mA Lipo batteries) or RC Radio/Receiver not included.

  1. RC Sherman

Posted by Matthew Whiteley on Jan 2nd 2019

This was my first 1/6 scale RC build. I was completely new to the hobby and electronics. I printed out the FOA instructions and studied them a fair bit before starting. FOA was there to answer my emails and questions promptly. I was able to squeeze in a sound system and smoke into the tight hull space. The motors work great, and I have the original tracks which have since been upgraded by FOA. I recommend adding some structural supports to the hull as this is essentially a dragon model converted to RC. FOA did a great job with this kit and there is simply no other way to build an affordable, reliable Sherman so thank you FOA!
The turret rotation is smooth and easy to install. The heavy rubber tracks and metal teeth look awesome on this model. I opted for the upgraded turret and it is an excellent product. Very strong and very well detailed. I used a lot of ECA aftermarket products to detail the model and it looks and performs very well. If you love Shermans, FOA's RC kit is the only way to go.

  2. Initial thoughts

Posted by Tom on Dec 28th 2016

My initial rating of 3 stars (I assume 3 can be a "neutral" rating) is because I just purchased the kit, and as I am able to assemble and operate it, I hope to give it a higher rating. Not all of the kit arrived at once, which is fine -- it was what I understood from Loic at the time of purchase. When the large (67 pound) box arrived, I opened it to find all the parts had arrived without damage. Two things that Loic (I believe) is working on are: (1) a complete parts list so that you can check off what is supposed to be there, and what is actually there in the box, and (2) a set of written instructions showing what goes where, and how the myriad of parts go together (orientation), plus notes about what minor things need to be done like de-burring metal parts, cleaning, etc. You can refer to Loic's FOA website and get a lot of information from there, but not in the detail required. I haven't yet begun to assemble the motor and drive unit and his instructions at FOA appears to be good, so we'll see. But otherwise, it's a guessing game, and you've invested $3,000 (or more). And, while some components are easy to figure out, others are not. Plus, some customers may not have internet, or they may not have high speed connection, etc., or, FOA may go out of business tomorrow, and the only recourse you would have would be written instructions -- back to the guessing game. Enough for now. I'll continue to work with Loic, and hope to be able to change my rating and opinion as I move along.
